ATTENTION RECRUITING COUNCIL!
Recruiting new OverDosed members is a critical activity as our numbers gradually decline due to a variety of reasons. However, you must be mindful of who you recruit! The following things I recommend keeping in mind, regardless of if they are official or not.
If every OD member, not just the recruiting council, would take note of this list, I believe our clan would greatly improve the quality of our recruits.
DO's and DON'Ts of recruiting:
DO:
1. Carefully and critically judge an applicant: how good of a player is he? Does he show respect? Is he reasonable and not impatient? Remember that skill is the number one thing to look for.
2. Always casually ask applicants if they play mucho money maps, compstomp, or have ever hacked. Don't be forceful; just be plain and simple about it.
3. Play more than one game with the applicant or watch more than replay of him playing. Don't put all of your eggs into one basket, so to speak.
4. 1on1 Lost Temple is the most important matchup. Test people with this form of game first. Don't base your choice on a single replay that the applicant has saved from some ancient time past. Instead, base your choice on how good he is at the current moment.
5. If you choose to accept an applicant into the clan, you must take adequate time to explain the rules associated with the clan.
6. If you choose to accept an applicant into the clan, you must add the member to the members list and assign him a password. TELL HIM TO CHANGE IT!
7. Make sure the member fills out his profile correctly (Date recruited / recruited by / rank).
8. Above all, have a good time with people that are new to our channel! Don't act unfriendly to strangers. This is what gives our clan a bad name in the gaming arena.
===========
I decided to post this critical essay because of OverDosed's size: As a clan, we have a large number of newer members. This is a great thing. More people are gaming with our tag. However, the methods that many of these new members were recruited by are of dubious nature.
This is a call to discretion to the entire clan: Everyone is a participant in recruiting indirectly. Recruit because of talent and maturity, not to improve your status as a recruiter.
Cheers,
